ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you'll be warmly welcomed by our team and transferred to a comfortable hotel in Moshi. Take some time to rest and prepare for the exciting trek ahead. Our team will conduct a briefing and equipment check to ensure you have everything you need.

Day 2: Moshi to Machame Gate to Machame Camp

After breakfast at the hotel, we'll drive to the Machame Gate (1,800 meters), the starting point of the Machame Route. The trek begins through the lush rainforests, where you'll witness a variety of wildlife and colorful flora. The hike to Machame Camp (3,010 meters) takes about 5-7 hours, offering glimpses of the majestic Uhuru Peak along the way.

Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp 2

On day 3, we ascend through the rainforest to the moorland zone. The trail provides stunning views of the Shira Plateau and the surrounding landscapes. After about 4-6 hours of trekking, we'll reach Shira Camp 2 (3,840 meters), where we'll spend the night.

Day 4: Shira Camp 2 to Barranco Camp

Today, the trek leads us to the Lava Tower (4,600 meters), offering an opportunity for acclimatization. Afterwards, we descend into the Barranco Valley, facing the challenging Barranco Wall, an exciting rock scramble. The journey takes approximately 6-8 hours, and we'll reach Barranco Camp (3,950 meters) for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Valley Camp

On day 5, we continue through the stunning Barranco Valley, witnessing unique vegetation and breathtaking scenery. The trek takes about 4-5 hours, leading us to Karanga Valley Camp (3,995 meters), where we'll rest and prepare for the summit push.

Day 6: Karanga Valley Camp to Barafu Camp

Today, we ascend to Barafu Camp (4,673 meters), the base camp for the summit attempt. The trail becomes steeper as we enter the alpine desert zone. After about 3-4 hours of trekking, we'll reach Barafu Camp, where we'll rest and prepare for the summit night.

Day 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Summit night begins at midnight. We'll start the climb to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters), the highest point in Africa. The ascent is demanding but immensely rewarding as we witness a spectacular sunrise from the summit. After celebrating our achievement, we'll descend back to Barafu Camp and continue down to Mweka Camp (3,100 meters) for the final night on the mountain.

Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi

On the last day of the trek, we descend through the lush rainforest from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1,650 meters). At the gate, you'll receive a well-earned certificate of achievement. Our team will then transfer you back to Moshi, where you can enjoy a hot shower and a celebratory dinner.

Day 9: Departure

After breakfast at the hotel, it's time to say goodbye to Tanzania. Our team will transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure home or onward travel. This marks the end of an extraordinary and rewarding 8-day trek on the Machame Route, leaving you with unforgettable memories and a sense of accomplishment that will stay with you forever.
